Friday Roundup: Curse Your Deadlines
Nola esaten da T.G.I.F. euskaraz?: Ah, memories. Five years ago, during the last Jaialdi, Siggy and I were spending our first summer in Boise. Cat-less, renting, living in sin (at least for a few more months). Then, we tasted our first kalimotxo and the picture suddenly came into focus. So tonight, we raise our Basque-born or randomly-caffeinated wines in the hopes of recapturing that magic on this, our second Jaialdi.
I'm your huckleberry: Arrived at work to find some new decorations (above) printed out and posted up in my cubby. #thosekids #grrrrr #cantstaymadatyou #workhardplayhard #blessed
Curse your deadlines: I had big plans to submit a proposal to the 33 1/3 folks regarding a favorite album of mine (I won't say which). But, then, you know, life happened (as John Lennon famously said, or stole from Allen Saunders or Reader's Digest). I started a new job, kicked off a fairly substantial, fairly personal writing project, invented #uglyvideoselfie: that old story. So it was a mixed reaction of "Seriously?" and "Good for them!" when I saw the album in question had a proposal submitted this time around. Whoever you are, good luck on your proposal getting picked...but I wouldn't be too disappointed if I had another shot at it next year. (Provided I can get my act together).
The one-question interview: Stay posted for a fresh feature on the old JW blog, which will hand the mic to a few brave, creative souls (who apparently have a lot to say).
