Friday Roundup: What are you looking forward to?
Lighting a candle for: St. Christopher, patron saint of travel, as I fly to Minneapolis for a visit with an old friend and my first cyclocross race; as my Siggy drives to Washington to visit fam; and as we meet back up in Eastern Oregon for an American Thanksgiving with some Canadian family.
Excuse the Post-It notes on the advent calendar: Besides travel, the JW docket includes four website launches, two online articles, one video project, and (hopefully) ten pounds of spritz cookies before the end of the year.
Pinterestopedia: If you aren’t already using it, check out WikiWand, a browser extension that makes falling down the Wikipedia rabbit hole 87% more visually pleasing.
The sweater was bad, the conversation was worse: Troy Patterson wrote an article on Slate a while back about retiring the old “What do you do?” query when meeting new people. A suggested alternative: “What are you looking forward to?” Holiday parties are the World Series of binge drinking and aimless chatter – follow The Gentleman Scholar’s advice and limit your participation in either.
The stupid band name generator: They Traded Bullfrog
Non-regret of the week: Catching David Bazan and The Passenger String Quartet at The Cathedral of the Rockies. Buy the album. Seriously. And if you’re not familiar with his work, please allow me to introduce you.
Until next time: Happy Thanksgiving, safe travels, and what are you looking forward to?
